II Timothy 2:15

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Pastor Bill Winston

God never intended for us to rule this earth just by learning.
We also need discerning which comes through revelation.

Nelson Mandela

Education is the most powerful weapon
which you can use to change the world.

Dr. John T. Chapman—Director

As the Interim Executive Director of the Distance Education Network, I am pleased to provide a model that assists Hosanna Bible College students who do not have the benefit of convenient access to the main campus in Durham, North Carolina. Prior to becoming the president of Hosanna Bible College, I had the great pleasure of being the Director of Distance Education of another institution. During my tenure, I observed the swift advent of distance learning.

Some years ago, my mentor and friend, Dr. Archie Logan, said distance education is the wave of the future. He further stated that institutions unprepared for the advent of distance education would find themselves becoming increasingly irrelevant. From that statement, I watched him launch a mail-in correspondence course program which quickly gained momentum and became a significant contributor to the overall growth and success of the institution. In addition, he led the campaign of securing a student learning system to provide convenience for students and administration. After becoming the Director of Distance Education at another institution, I learned that education—solid and effective education—can be achieved in an online environment. While I remain a fan of and advocate for in-class, face-to-face instruction, I have gained respect and admiration of online accomplishments through a student learning environment. On April 22, 2019, the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, an organization recognized by the Department of Education, granted Hosanna Bible College authorization to offer online education. To God be the glory!

As president of Hosanna Bible College, I will continue the tradition of offering both in-class and online learning. As a proponent of distance education, I understand the need for support, direction and encouragement is often vital for student success. With that awareness in mind, we created a model that achieves the purpose of offering distance education online while providing face-to-face support for students where they live and work. This network is comprised of directors in various locations around the country who share the same passion and mission of offering quality distance education. While no instruction occurs at the actual physical location, participating centers provide support in the areas of technology, administration, and counseling.

I am pleased to serve as the Interim Executive Director of the DEN program. I assure that quality in higher education will remain at the forefront of our mission and vision.

Hosanna is more than a college. It's a movement.

Respectfully yours,

Dr. John T. Chapman
